Hosting Rules

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

The BlanKart Master Server and its governing rules are entirely independent of Kart Krew. Please do not contact Kart Krew regarding de-lists, takedowns, or any other issues related to the BlanKart MS. All disputes and appeals must be handled through our official BlanKart channels.

1. Release of Liability

Please note that these rules ONLY apply to content hosted on BlanKart's Master Server. Servers and content not hosted on the Master Server aren't considered a part of BlanKart's ecosystem, and we waive any responsibility for--and regulation of--the content hosted on those servers. Please understand.

If you have an issue with content hosted on a server that is not on the Master Server, please bring it up with the host of that server, not us.

2. Regarding "Patches"

BlanKart supports the ability to load external additions to existing addons, known as "patches". Patches do not directly edit the original addon, and thus are not considered edits during review. Thank you for understanding.

3. General Hosting & Modifications

It is highly recommended that server hosts provide a reliable, convenient, and safe means of access to contact them.
Hosts deemed "un-contactable" will have anything regarding their server (such as takedown requests) reviewed under the assumption that they cannot be contacted whatsoever.

We operate with an open, booru-style approach to hosting: server hosts are free to upload and run the content they want, free of scrutiny or regulation. However, we want to ensure we respect the rights and explicit wishes of the original creators.

By default, any upload that scrubs credits, or removes watermarks will not be tolerated. If a creator provides a readme with explicitly written permissions (e.g., a readme stating "do not edit or port without permission"), and there is an explicit violation of their guidelines within the edited or ported file, this will be considered unacceptable and should be reported via our takedown form.

You may modify addons for your server, but modifications must include an explicit, non-vague notation in the filename indicating that it was altered by someone other than the original creator.
As an example: If Alice makes a character pack called WC_AlicesCharPack, and Bob modifies it for his server, Bob must rename the file to something clear like WC_AlicesCharPack_BobsEdit.
Once again, PATCHES ARE NOT CONSIDERED EDITS, as they do not directly edit the orignal addon. Please do not consider them as such.

Addons considered "non-reusable" by the SRB2 Message Board (anything not marked there as Open Assets) will have their permissions considered. While the Message Board is not a part of BlanKart's general ecosystem, the creator's wishes are often represented with the permissions they are required to provide when submitting addons to that site.

Unless an explicit set of permissions are given WITHIN THE FILE ITSELF, we will fall back to the permissions stated on the Message Board, or will assume the addon is "reusable" (Open Assets) until a complaint is submitted to the takedown form.

4. Creator Takedown Requests

We want to ensure creators feel as though their rights are being respected, but also want server hosts to not feel like they are walking on eggshells. If an original creator or an affiliated representative submits a valid complaint regarding an unauthorized port, reupload, or unapproved modification, we will step in.

Filing a Complaint: Creators can request a takedown by submitting credible proof of ownership via the Addon Takedowns Form. Upon a valid complaint, the server host will be contacted and given a 14-day grace period to amend the issue or reach an agreement directly with the original creator.

Removal Mandate: If the dispute is not resolved by the end of the 14 days, the host will be instructed to remove the offending addon entirely. Failure to Comply: If the host does not respond or fails to remove the addon within 4 days of the final removal request, the offending server will be de-listed from the Master Server.

5. Ring Racers Content

Addons created for Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers are allowed on the BlanKart Master Server, unless the addon's creator has stated otherwise.

If these addons require content from the base-game RR (Vanilla), you may repack those in their own new file to make addons functional as long you cleary notate that in the file name and inside the file itself with text file listing what you are including. These files must be unedited otherwise. If at all possible though we recommend loading them unedited from the base RR pk3s wherever possible to respect the wishes of Kart Krew Dev (KKD).

Regulation for addons applies to base-game assets as well. If a person from KKD submits a takedown complaint, action will be taken the same way any other complaint will be

6. Master Server De-listing

Master Server de-listing is temporary, and for a fixed time period of 30 days. The offending server is given one strike for each de-list.

If you are given more than three strikes, you will be permanently de-listed from the Master Server. Your server's permanent de-listing can only be revoked by submitting a convincing appeal to our appeal form.

You may find the Permanent de-listing appeal form here. If your server is temporarily de-listed, or is not de-listed to begin with, please do not use this appeal form.
